As we celebrate Independence Day in the United States, let us take time to reflect on its significance. Over 241 years ago a young leader, one of our founding fathers wrote, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Thomas Jefferson wasn’t an infallible man or a perfect leader, but his writing shows he was a perfect visionary.
As leaders, we must remember those we lead have a desire to pursue happiness and freedom. Never forget that you lead a whole person. When you meet the needs of those you lead, they will in turn help your organization attain success. Be a visionary leader that writes people into your organization’s equation.
