Continued learning is necessary to stay at the top of any field. While most think that a degree or diploma is their ticket to success, it is a continuous learning mindset that will propel leaders from being average to the top of their profession. I remember thinking, when I graduate, I do not want to read another book, because going to school can be challenging. However, I soon realized that having a degree and completing college was not enough. It is a basecamp to the summit of learning.
There are many ways to accelerate your learning. Reading books might sound old fashioned, but it is a most effective mode of learning. When is the last time you read a book pertaining to your profession? If your answer is months, years or never, it is time to pick up a book. Early in my career, I was introduced to some classics in the area of human behavior: How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie, Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl, and Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Lifelong learning through reading can benefit you in a multitude of ways.
