Leaders must learn the balance between asking powerful questions and listening. Voltaire said, “Judge a man by his questions rather than his answers.” Respectable leaders need to be curious and ask questions that empower those they lead. It is equally important to listen without interruption after asking questions. Be sure to use empowering questions that lead to thoughtful examination. I can remember reading Steven Covey’s – 7 Habits of Highly Effective People back in the early 90s and coming across the word paradigm. I have to admit the word, paradigm, wasn’t in my vocabulary at the time. I looked it up in order to understand what it meant. A paradigm can be a new way of seeing something or the same thing in a new light. Might looking at situations from a different angle lead you to more successes?
